| Welcome
to the home of the Greywolf Taurens.
PvP rules and Guides
Overview:
How a member of the
Greywolf Tribe
behaves when engaged in PvP is largely for them to decide. There are
some actions that are forbidden, and which might get a member booted
from the guild, but mostly this is a guide as to how we would like
members to behave.
PLEASE NOTE: The Greywolf tribe has recently moved to the non PvP realm of Earthen Ring. Therefore many of these rules have become redundant. Please check in the forums for an update our our PvP ruleset. Thanks
The Greywolves are a
peaceable
tribe but we are not cowards. We will not go looking for a fight but if
the Alliance brings one to us then we will be a formidable and
frightening force. However when we fight we do so with honour. Honour
is what defines us as Taurens. Without it we are nothing. So we should
try to be honourable in all that we do. The guides and rules have two
functions. First to promote the Greywolves as a tribe that does not
seek war, and if it does fight then it does so with honour. And
secondly to promote our guild as a group of decent role players that
only do something for a good solid role play reason. We are not honour
point farmers, and we do not seek to ruin anyone else's experience of
the game.
When we PvP
The Greywolf Tribe do
not seek conflict with the Alliance. We do not attack them on site or
look to confront them. They are generally not our allies nor our
friends, and we hold some races and classes in contempt. If we are
attacked we will defend ourselves and kill our attackers. Should we see
members of the Horde fighting Alliance we will come to their aid. And
we will defend Horde camps, villages and towns as if they were our own.
We do not hunt Alliance indescriminately and will not be part of
retaliatory attacks against Alliance towns, simply because some
Alliance attacked ours.
In all things the Greywolf Tribe are just and honourable.
Battleground:
Battlegrounds
do not lend themselves to role play. The action is too fast and furious
and the time taken to role play an encounter is not practical in them.
So anyone who goes into Alterac etc. can do so simply for the fun of
playing. You do not represent The Greywolves and do not need to follow
any set of rules. Remember you have the guild tag over your head
though, so play fair and behave well. Don't bring our name into
disrepute. Go and enjoy
Corpse
Camping: (To
wait close to an enemy, either preventing them from resurrecting, or
killing them as soon as they do ressurect) This is the first Rule, we
do not corpse camp. We do not do it ever. Even if we have been camped
ourselves we do not return the favour. There is no place for it in role
play and we will not tolerate it. It may even get a member kicked from
the guild if they make a habit of camping. We would never want to hear
a ranting post on the official forum about the Greywolf Tribe being
campers and bad players.
However we accept that we may inadvertently camp a player. In a large
scale battle it can be difficult not to stand over an enemy corpse if
they have died in our front line. We cannot be expected to all run back
just because one Alliance has died in the middle of our group. When
they do ressurect we should allow them to run away and get their health
back. Again in the middle of a battle we may make mistakes and kill an
Alliance that we did not know had just resurrected. Mistakes are fine.
Intentional corpse camping is not.
Ganking: (Killing
a player may levels below you or killing an equal level player who is
weakened from fighting a mob) There is no rule against doing either of
these two things. There are lots of genuine role play reasons why we
might attack an Alliance player many levels lower than ourselves. There
are no levels in the real world. Just enemies and friends. But if you
do attack players lower than yourself then have a good role play reason
why you did it. Remember that an Alliance you attack is a real person
who is doing something important in the game. They may be on a quest or
looking for a resource such as an ore or plant. Think about what
killing them will do to their enjoyment of the game. So while we would
recommend we never gank a player, do it if you must, but don't do it
often and only in areas considered to be our home lands (Mulgore, The
Barrens). The second Rule is that we never gank a player who is in the
middle of a quest such as an escort run or a class quest. Leave them
alone. A gnome might have travelled half way round the world to get to
the Warlock trainer in The Barrens. So leave them to get their void
walker. We have our own class quests as hunters, warriors, shaman and
druids. We would want to be left in peace to do our quest, so we should
do likewise for the Alliance.
Abuse of blue:
As we are on a PvP server we can only turn our PvP flag off (go blue)
in Mulgore, The Barrens, Tirisfal Glades, Durotar, Thunderbluff, The
Undercity and Silverpine. If we do meet Alliance and we decide to fight
them we must turn on PvP first. Rule three is that we never use the PvP
flag to our advantage. It is the act of a coward and there are no
cowards in the Greywolf Tribe. Of course there are some occasions when
we might have to attack from blue. If a friend is suddenly attacked by
an Alliance we would not have time to step back, flag for PvP and then
attack. We would just attack. This would be acceptable.
Raids:
The Greywolves would never go on a Horde arranged raid into Alliance or
contested territory without all role-playing together that we though it
was right to do so. It would be very hard indeed to understand why a
Greywolf would join a raid to Southshore because an Orc screamed on
/localdefence that we should all go kill the foul Alliance scum etc.
etc. Also joining a reprisal raid would also not be something we would
do. If the Alliance attack The Crossroads it does not mean we can go an
butcher innocent Elves in Auberdine. That is not the Tauren way. We
would hunt and kill those who attacked our town, but not those who
played no part. Of course if we chased Alliance back to a town we could
argue that we were simply carrying on the fight there. However as
Greywolf it would be hard to justify taking a fight all that way. As
soon as the Alliance fled our lands we would stop the chase. We protect
our lands, we do not hunt Alliance.
Conclusion: The
Greywolves wish to become recognised by the Alliance as a strong but
noble Tribe. We will fight when pushed but would rather live in peace
with them. This would give us many opportunities to role play with
Elves, Gnomes, Dwarves and Men. And this is why the Greywolf Tribe was
created........to enable us to enjoy great role play.
